I was watching another episode of Top Gear the other day which is repeated constantly on Dave and it was the episode whereby they were suggesting that you can purchase a BMW now because people that drive a new or used Audi are the more aggressive drivers nowadays. In fact according to the Top Gear presenters BMW drivers are relatively tame drivers compared to the new Audi drivers. I have to say in my experience it is still the BMW drivers that are the most aggressive drivers. Although I was driving the other day and noticed in my rear view mirror that a used Audi A4 was right up my bottom. It tail gated me for about a mile on a 50 mph road. It has annoyed me somewhat that the local council has decided to reduce the speed limit on many of our country roads from 60 to 50 mph. It is meant to be for safety reasons but some of the roads that they have reduced the speed on seem safe to me. In addition to this the problem with accidents is that most are high speed on country roads or someone is doing something else silly. Just because you reduce the speed limit it doesn’t mean that these drivers that drive like maniacs such as at speeds in excess of 80 mph will take any notice of this new speed limit. This is why it annoys me because most of the roads are perfectly safe at 60 mph.

Some of the roads though that have not been changed should be. For example I drive on a very dangerous road that runs between Coventry to near Banbury and although it has speed cameras it is one of the most dangerous roads I have driven on. It was made by the Romans so it is fairly straight but very narrow. There are also several busy junctions with used BMW and used Audi TT drivers all wanting to get on the road first. This is a problem and more often than not there is a crash. The council has even had to make the signs far bigger than normal because of the amount of accidents and near misses that have occurred on that road. Then there is a road that runs diagonally across this road which has been reduced to 50 mph where there is really no need. The whole drive to work is just frustrating due to the amount of traffic and the ridiculous speed limits that are now in place. I particularly get frustrated when for example a used Audi A5 is close behind me waiting to overtake when there aren’t any safe places to overtake me which usually means I am tense until the vehicle has either realised this and backed off or passed me in an unsafe position. Don’t get me wrong I really like new and used Audi vehicles and BMWs for that matter but they can really push me to the limit when they are driving inconsiderately.
